| cny x 2012 | when the year of dragon begins…

It’s been a few months since I had my last blog post. I know – no excuse! But, the good news is that, I am going to be a mother in few months time!

This is such an exciting news for me and hubby! Ever since I got pregnant, my body just got so exhausted all the time. As I have entered into my second trimester now, my body has become better in recovering from tiredness.

The past Monday was Chinese New Year, and this year is especially special for us as it is the year of Dragon and that our baby will be a dragon baby! Dragon year is supposed to be a lucky year and I am sure our baby will bring us luck for sure! :D

Here are some photos of my nephew and nieces taken during the first day of Chinese New Year: (can’t believe how much they have grown!)

| me x personal | refresh myself

I know! It’s been awhile since my last blog post. I have been procrastinating for more than a month on my work. I do deserve a bucket of cold water splashing in my face in order to give myself a wake up call from the procrastination or you could see it as a way of refreshing my life again.

I, of course, do not literally want to get bucket water splashed in my face. But I do wish I could be as refreshen as this little strawberry in the photo that I took last night.

Strawberry Float

It’s getting really cold here in Melbourne, and it makes me just want to be away from work and sneak under my comforter for a mini-hibernation. It’s bad incentive for my work – I know! What to do? I will keep you updated with my work which I should get back on that track soon.

At the mean time, take care everyone!!

| personal | Stay strong, Japan!

As many of you should be aware of the situation in Japan – the quake and tsunami happened not long ago. I am still in total shock on this incident, watching how scary it was in the airport and other indoor area when the quake happened, and how fast the water
floods into the inner part of Japan. I just hope that our friends in Japan will
stay strong together while confronting the difficult times.

But, one thing is truly remarkable about the Japanese community is that they are really well-prepared for earthquakes and other natural disaster, which has put the number of deaths, injuries, and damages to the minimal.

Stay strong, Japan. You will be blessed by all of us from all around the world.

One of the assignments we were given in photography school was to take shots in different perspective of an object. Here was one of mine – an espresso cup.

I realized children grow really fast, and they are so much more knowledgeable than they were few months back. Every moments now become so precious, I should really capture more of their beautiful childhood in my photography!

P.S. This entry is for you – Victoria, Harry and Elizabeth.

Love,
Auntie Alice

|me x feeling| it’s cherry blossom time

Cherry Blossom

It is that time of the year – cherry blossom! This photograph was taken 2 years ago during a trip to Seattle, WA in the US. Time really flies rapidly, and I have been living in Melbourne for more than a year time now!

I really do miss living in the US. There are so much amazing things over there, and life was so much more interesting back then (well, slightly!) food is so much better in San Francisco! Miss having an workable iphone (with unlimited data plan – yet paying only $29 for it). Missing the unlimited yet FAST internet access at home and everywhere in the US. Shopping was SOOOOO much better there too!

These things were certainly overlooked by me a year ago, and that just teaches me not to take things for granted anymore. I should start looking into things that I could appreciate here in Melbourne.

| me x feeling | i’m lost without photography

Do you ever feel lost in direction without having something in your life? Maybe something like your iphone, your computer, your spouse, your kids or your parents? Well, I have! Been on photography school holiday for more than a month now. Ever since the holiday began and my christmas overseas trip ended, I have really been slacking on taking photographs. I thought to myself it’s okay – I need a break once in awhile too! But, I was totally wrong! During this time without having any photographs taken, I felt lost! I felt like there’s no purpose in life and no goal to achieve when photography is no longer a top priority in my life. There’s no focus in life when photography is temporarily absent in my life. Never thought photography could mean so much to me, but it’s proven that photography is just my thing. Without it, it’s just not me anymore!

Therefore, I promised myself to pick up my camera whenever I can. Even when there’s no job or project in line, I will still tell stories with my passion and record histories through photography!

Following are some photographs to share of my 3 precious nephew and nieces – maybe I could do a small introduction for all of you about them.

_MG_6486

So this is Harry – he is now 19 months old. I would say he is a very cautious person – since young! When he just started to learn how to crawl and walk, he made sure the next steps are safe before he would make the move. He never really fell down from walking or crawling, and he even walked and crawled up and down the stairs with no problem! Well, of course now that he could run and jump everywhere – he does occasionally fall. By the way, as you could see from above photo, he cries – quite frequently!

Now, this is Victoria. She is Harry’s elder sister and she is now 3! If you followed my blog, you would have seen her 3rd birthday post awhile ago. Victoria is a very very smart 3 year old – at least many of the 3 year old that I have seen do not act as mature as she is. She is cheeky and cute! She is a very very active girl – always likes to run around the house all the time. Never want to recharge herself unless her battery is completely out! She is also a very creative girl – look at the drawing she did at her first day of day care! The drawing looks so artistic and she is a great potential to be a photographer too as she always likes to take photos with our phones and that’s why I gave her a film camera for her birthday!

Finally, this is Elizabeth! I am sure many of you have seen her photographs on my blog! This cutie pie is now at her 16th month! And at this age, she is able to repeat most of the words that we say to her. I thought that was pretty amazing, and most of the time, she can even express what she wants or doesn’t want by telling us directly with some keywords! Most of the kids I saw who are older can’t even do that yet – and every time she does it, I would be like ‘wowww’ in my mind!

These 3 babies are precious and I do love them dearly! Hopefully you enjoyed my stories!
